Stock prices recorded a marginal increase in today's session on the Athens Stock Exchange.
The market focused its attention on the announcement of the deal between Alpha Bank and Unicredit and the developments related to the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) divestment from the National Bank of Greece.
The General Price Index closed at 1,205.55 points, marking a 0.21% increase.
The intraday session recorded a higher price at 1,208.02 points (+0.44%) and a lower price at 1,196.46 points (-0.55%).
The trading volume surged to 400.54 million euros, of which 293.5 million euros relate to the package of 8.98% of Alpha Bank shares (211,138,299 shares), which was transferred from Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) to Unicredit.
The high capitalization index registered a 0.10% increase, while the mid-capitalization index rose by 0.18%.
Among the high-capitalization stocks, the largest gains were recorded by Piraeus Bank (+2.98%), DEI (Public Power Corporation) (+2.80%), Sarantis (+1.27%), and Motor Oil (+1.11%).
On the other hand, the biggest decline was observed in OPAP (-3.18%) and Elvalhalcor (-1.43%) shares.
National Bank's stock closed with a 0.77% increase at €5.4820, above the range of €5 - €5.44, which will be the offering price for the 20% of shares held by the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP). Alpha Bank's stock closed with a marginal decrease of 0.04 at €1.3945, slightly higher than €1.39, the price at which 9% of Alpha Bank's shares were transferred to UniCredit.
Among the sectoral indices, the greatest increase was recorded by the Utilities index (+1.71%) and the Oil index (+0.99%), while the Travel (-2.70%) and Health (-1.41%) indices experienced the most significant losses.
The highest trading volume was reported by Alpha Bank and Eurobank, with 234,522,448 and 6,440,735 shares traded, respectively.
Alpha Bank also had the highest transaction value, reaching €325.97 million, followed by the National Bank with €13.52 million.
A total of 53 stocks experienced gains, 52 saw declines, and 20 remained unchanged.
The highest increases were seen in the stocks of Kekrops (+28.63%) and Frigoglass (+10.00%).
On the other hand, the largest declines were recorded by the stocks of CNL Capital (-17.55%) and Chaidemenos (-6.25%).
