Another step in the process of improving Greek-Turkish relations is expected to be the meeting of the Supreme Military Council of the two countries, which will take place in Athens on December 7, as sources point out, essentially outlining the main axes of its agenda.

As known, the SMC meeting was agreed upon during the meeting between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Vilnius last July, along with the activation of multiple channels of communication between the two countries and based on the following axes: Political dialogue, Confidence-Building Measures, Positive Agenda.

According to the same sources, the SMC meeting, after seven years—four of which saw Greek-Turkish relations reach a critical point of tension—is sought to signify mutual willingness for cooperation to the benefit of both countries. It aims to smooth relations in a spirit of mutual sincerity and good neighborly relations. This comes after the completion of the first cycle of the roadmap of contacts agreed upon between the foreign ministers of the two countries.

The agenda of the meeting, according to information, is as follows:

On the morning of December 7, the Greek and Turkish ministers will have bilateral meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries.

At the same time, a meeting between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will take place at the Maximou. The format will be similar to their two previous meetings in Vilnius and New York, with the participation of the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Turkey, Giorgos Gerapetritis and Hakan Fidan, and the diplomatic advisors of the two leaders, Anna Maria Boura and Cagatay Kilic.
