A one million euros fine was imposed on "Jacobs Douwe Egberts GR. E.P.E.," following the audit completion conducted by the Interagency for Market Control Unit (DIMEA), as announced by the Ministry of Development.

The fine pertains to the violation of Article 54 of Law 5045/29-07-2023, regarding the phenomena of unfair profiteering.

According to the ministry's announcement, "The intensive audits by the MCIU continue. In November alone, more than 1,250 audits were conducted, resulting in fines exceeding 5.5 million euros. In an unprecedented mobilization for Greek standards of the auditing mechanism, the ministry has conducted over 20,600 audits since the beginning of 2023 and has imposed fines totaling 10.3 million euros."

Kostas Skrekas, Minister of Development, stated: "The battle in favor of the Greek households continues. No one has the right to engage in unfair speculation at the expense of the Greek citizen, especially under the conditions created in the market due to imported inflation. The Greek government is the only one in Europe that possesses and enforces laws against unfair profitability. The continuous presence of the audit mechanisms of the Ministry of Development in the market ensures compliance with legality, healthy competition, and, as demonstrated in practice, reduces prices on the shelves."
