In November, the annual inflation slowed to 3% from 3.4% in October, with the rally in food prices continuing for another month, according to data released today by ELSTAT.
The category "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" shows the highest increase at +9%, followed by "Clothing and footwear" at 6.4% and "Health" at +5.5%, as indicated by the data from the Greek statistical service. Hotels-Cafes-Restaurants also show a significant increase of 4.7%.
On a monthly basis, from October, inflation decreased by 0.4% in November.
Specifically, as announced by ELSTAT, the 3.0% increase in the index in November was mainly due to changes in the following groups of goods and services:
From increases in the indices by:
• 9.0% in the group of "Food and non-alcoholic beverages," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: bread and cereals, meats (in general), fish (in general), dairy products and eggs, oils and fats, fruits (in general), vegetables (in general), sugar-chocolates-sweets-ice cream, other foods, coffee-cocoa-tea, bottled water-soft drinks-fruit juices.
• 2.6% in the group of "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco," due to an increase mainly in the prices of non-served alcoholic beverages.
• 6.4% in the group of "Clothing and footwear," due to an increase in the prices of clothing and footwear.
• 1.5% in the group of "Durable goods-Household goods and services," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: household consumables, household services.
• 5.5% in the group of "Health," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: pharmaceutical products, medical-dental and paramedical services, hospital care.
• 2.8% in the group of "Recreation-Cultural activities," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: durable goods for recreation, small items for recreation-flowers-pets, cinemas-theaters, vacation packages. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly in the prices of sound and image processing equipment.
• 3.5% in the group of "Education," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: preschool and primary education tuition fees, secondary education tuition fees, tertiary education tuition fees.
• 4.7% in the group of "Hotels-Cafes-Restaurants," due to an increase mainly in the prices of restaurants-patisseries-cafes-
• 1.9% in the group of "Other goods and services," due to an increase mainly in the prices of: hairdressers and personal care stores, other personal care items, health insurance premiums, vehicle insurance premiums.
