Scope Ratings upgrades its forecasts for Greece’s growth in 2024, describing the reasons why the Greek economy is achieving impressive performance well above the eurozone. As it emphasizes, the investment grade sends a strong message to the markets, while also bringing significant benefits to the economy.

Scope's main scenario for Greece foresees another year of economic growth at 2.2% next year (up from the 1.6% forecast in August and during its evaluation) and 2.3% for 2025, following 2.1% this year. The outperformance of the Greek economy is expected to continue, as the agency's forecast for eurozone growth is 1.1% for next year, after 0.7% this year.

As noted by Scope, the Greek economy is outperforming as household consumption continues to rise, supported by an unemployment rate projected to decrease to 9.2% on average next year, the lowest average since 2008.
