From New Year's, the provision of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for the abolition of the 30% deduction from the pensions of employed retirees is expected to come into effect.

With the proposed regulation of the new social security bill, the main core of which is the restructuring of the professional insurance system, retirees who are employed will now receive their entire pension amount without any cuts.

At the same time, a non-reciprocal contribution is introduced in favor of e-ΕFΚΑ, which, for employed pensioners, will be equal to 10% of their insurable earnings and for non-employed pensioners 50% of the selected insurance class for the main pension. Additionally, an annual cap on the contribution is set, which cannot exceed 12 times the monthly national pension.

According to examples already disclosed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, employed retirees will benefit significantly from the new provision.

As evident from the examples, a retiree who is employed and receives a pension of 1,200 euros had a deduction of 360 euros based on the existing regime. If this retiree works as an employee with a gross monthly salary of 780 euros, they will receive their entire pension, and the deduction of 360 euros is replaced by a non-reciprocal contribution of 78 euros. The benefit amounts to 282 euros monthly.

If the same retiree works as a self-employed professional and has chosen the first insurance class, then the deduction of 360 euros is replaced by a non-reciprocal contribution of 169.95 euros times 50% = 84.98 euros. The benefit reaches 275.02 euros monthly.
