In an international environment with challenges in various sectors, Greece will be an oasis in 2024, stated Vasilis Psaltis, the CEO of Alpha Bank.
Mr. Psaltis emphasized that this assessment of our country's positive prospects, is not only of the bank but also arises from the discussions it has with the international community, whether they are customers or investors. Alpha Bank will take advantage of these prospects during 2024, he added.
The CEO of the bank highlighted the strategic agreement with UniCredit, which among other things resulted in Alpha Bank becoming a private bank again, opening a new chapter in its historical journey.
Mr. Psaltis summarised the main axes of the strategy after the agreement with UniCredit, stating that the geographical area focused on by Alpha Bank is Greece and Cyprus.
However, at the same time, with a focus on the opportunities arising from the agreement with UniCredit, the bank's strategy is to provide a "window to the world" for its clientele, connected to the other environments in which its business-customers operate in Central and Eastern Europe.
It also aims to provide a platform for businesses from the broader Middle East region that want to invest in Europe, through Greece and Cyprus. Further details of this strategy will be announced in 2024 as the agreement with UniCredit unfolds.
Mr. Psaltis also mentioned Alpha Bank's other major goal, which is dividend distribution. As he stated, there has already been an agreement with the SSM, with only final formal approval remaining, which is expected by April 2024.
