The Athens Stock Exchange closed the year 2023 with significant gains, 39.08%, ranking at the top of the global stock market charts.
The overall market capitalization increased by 22 billion euros, and the substantial rise in stock prices was accompanied by an increase in transaction values, with average daily transactions reaching 111 million euros, nearly 50% higher than the previous year.
The General Price Index in the last session of 2023 closed at 1,293.14 points, marking an increase of 0.58%.
The value of transactions amounted to 62.13 million euros, with 17,095,755 shares being traded.
The large-cap index recorded an increase of 0.67%, while the mid-cap index strengthened by 0.62%.
Among the high-cap stocks, the largest gains were recorded by Alpha Bank (+3.22%), Ellaktor (+2.00%), and EYDAP (+1.67%), while the biggest decline was observed in Motor Oil (-1.16%).
The highest trading volumes were reported by Alpha Bank and Eurobank, with 4,258,408 and 3,232,283 shares traded, respectively.
The highest transaction values were recorded by the National Bank of Greece with 9.00 million euros and Alpha Bank with 6.47 million euros.
Out of 124 stocks traded, 69 moved upward, 35 moved downward, and 20 remained unchanged.
The stocks with the highest gains were Levenderis (+9.46%) and Moda Bango (+7.91%).
The stocks with the biggest losses were Trastor (-7.14%) and Akritas (-6.06%)
