90% of businesses that are obliged to connect their cash registers to payment terminals have already completed the process or have a scheduled appointment within the deadline to do so.
This is a total of more than 255,000 businesses, and of these, more than 145,000 are those that have already done the POS interconnection. More than 110,000 businesses have been contacted by installation technicians and have scheduled the appointment for the interconnection of their systems in the special application of the Independent authority of public revenues (AADE).
The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, said: "We said it, we did it! The project of interconnecting cash registers with POS is being completed on schedule. No one believed us until a few weeks ago. But the data confirms that about 90% of businesses have either completed the interface or have a scheduled appointment to do so in April. No further extensions will be granted, as meeting the deadline is now also a matter of fairness to those businesses that have rushed to interconnect. In the next few days, the AADE will contact those who have not yet interconnected in order to establish whether this is due to force majeure. We are moving forward with determination to implement an important project to tackle tax evasion with multiple benefits for citizens and businesses".
