The second quarter of 2024 started with strong losses for the Athens Stock Exchange, while the negative sentiment on Wall Street and Euromarkets also had a negative impact.
The General Price Index closed at 1,393.84 points, down 2.00%. The value of transactions amounted to 121.04 million euros, while 26,914,824 shares were traded. The high-cap index fell by 1.95%, while the mid-cap index declined by 3.13%.
The banking index closed with loss of 2.08% at 1,170.02 points. Alpha retreated to 1.58 euros with a 3% plunge, Piraeus fell 2.79% to 3.768 euros, National Bank fell to 7.12 euros with a 1.87% loss, while losses were more limited for Eurobank at -0.95%. Among the high-cap stocks, OTE (+1.02%), Terna Energy (+0.50%) and Jumbo (+0.15%) had a positive day.
On the contrary, the biggest declines were recorded by the shares of PPA (-7.12%), Hellaktor (-5.70%), Aegean Airlines (-4.31%), Viohalco (-4.17%), Coca Cola HBC (-3.73%) and Elvalhalcor (-3.67%).
