AEGEAN recorded significant growth in passenger traffic, in the first quarter of the year, an equivalent growth of 11% in both domestic and international network. During the traditionally weakest quarter of the year, AEGEAN carried a total of approximately 2,9 million passengers, 278 thousand more compared to 2023, by offering approximately 3,5 million available seats.

Growth was similarly balanced compared to 2023, both in the Athens international network operations (+10%) and Thessaloniki international network operations (+10%), strengthening AEGEAN’s commitment to further develop the growth potential of both Greece’s main airports with significant international traffic during winter. It is noted that AEGEAN’s winter network included 85 direct connections to international destinations, 10 of which operated for the first-time during winter, including Bilbao, Bratislava, Tallinn and Barcelona from Thessaloniki, as well as the new route to Dubai.

WINTER PROGRAM FOR RHODES

Additionally, during the past winter months, a special incoming tourism program took place in Rhodes, with the collaboration of specialized Tour Operators, directly connecting the island with more than 20 destinations in Scandinavia, France, Germany and England. At the same time, AEGEAN's successful ten-year cooperation with TEMES continued and was further enlarged, for the commencement of seasonal flights to and from Kalamata airport during the winter season, connecting the destination with Germany, Sweden and Denmark.

It is worth noting that the increase in international passenger traffic exceeded 27% for Athens and 32% for Thessaloniki when compared to the corresponding period in 2019, recording the first significantly positive results for the company and Greek tourism, deriving from AEGEAN's continuous investment in maintaining the network, the interconnectivity and the frequencies of the country during the winter period.
