Aktor will seek to expand its footprint in Romania by exploiting new market opportunities that will arise in the future, such as PPPs and concessions, said Aktor's President and CEO Alexandros Exarchou, speaking at the Economist Impact Conference held on Thursday in Bucharest.

The conference discussion was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, Mr. Ionut Savoiu, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece, Mr. Nikos Tachiaοs and the Secretary General of Private Investment of the Ministry of Development, Ms. Vicky Loizou. As Mr. Exarchoy underlined, from the very first moment of the completion of the acquisition of Aktor by Intrakat Group, Romania has been a top priority. Aktor, which has had a presence in Romania for 20 years, has recently been boosted with significant funds to accelerate the execution of its projects in Romania, the head of the company noted.

1.3 BILLION PROJECTS WORTH IN ROMANIA

At the same time, Mr. Exarchou also took stock of the progress of the ongoing major projects that Aktor is implementing in Romania, with a cumulative budget of €1.3 billion. Among others, he referred to Lot 3 of the Bucharest A0 regional motorway (63% of the physical scope), which will be completed this summer, and to subsection 2 of the Apața-Cața railway line (21.7% of the physical scope), a challenging technical project, that is one of the few in Europe where 4 tunnel boring machines will be used in parallel.

The head of Aktor finally stressed that it is a strong belief of the Intrakat Group that Romania has expanded prospects in the context of the European family and the geopolitical upheavals in the region. And he pointed out that the country has gained wider interest, as the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine will pass through Romania and the rail and road axes connecting the Aegean Sea with the Black Sea.
