Reset to 1,400 points with a push from banks
Athens Stock Exchange closed above 1,400 points with banks and PPC leading the way.

Following the previous week's correction, the Athens Stock Exchange market was able to make a strong recovery and return to the psychological level of 1,400 units, with bank shares and PPC leading the way. The General Price Index closed at 1,401.35 points, up 1.29%.

The value of transactions amounted to 113.85 million euros, while 26,193,302 shares were traded. The high-cap index rose 1.39%, while the mid-cap index gained 1.84%.

The banking index closed with a 2.68% jump to 1,195.96 points with Alpha recording a 4.28% rally to 1.62 euros, while Piraeus also posted strong gains of 2.9% to 3.833 euros. Νational Bank of Greece made significant gains with +2.39% at 7.27 euros and Eurobank at 1.81 euros with +1.6%. Among the high-cap stocks, the biggest rises were recorded by PPC (+4.76%), Alpha Bank (+4.28%), Elvalahalcor (+3.30%), Piraeus (+2.93%) and Viohalco (+2.50%). On the contrary, Motor Oil (-0.66%), Coca Cola HBC (-0.57%), OPAP (-0.43%) and OTE (-0.43%) were the biggest decliners.
