Never in post-war Greece have we had so many two-dimensional and three-dimensional surveys The first drilling by companies and consortia engaging in hydrocarbon exploration on Greek territory could begin in 2026, Greek Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Alexandra Sdoukou said on Thursday in addressing the 9th Delphi Economic Forum.

Specifically, she referred to recently concluded hydrocarbon exploration in the east Mediterranean country, reminding us that seismic surveys were completed last year in specific concession blocks, with the process of analyzing those results now underway.

“Never in post-war Greece have we had so many two-dimensional and three-dimensional surveys,” she said. Sdoukou added that after the analysis stage, “I want to believe that the companies will be able to make a decision in 2025 on exploratory drilling, with the aim being to commence drilling sometime in 2026.”.
