Greece “ unequivocally condemns the attack against Israel” and calls for “restraint from all sides in order to avoid a wider regional conflict,” government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said Sunday.
Mr. Marinakis made the statement immediately after an emergency meeting of the inner cabinet on security issues (KYSEA).
“During the meeting, the latest developments in the region after Iran’s attacks against Israel were discussed and the security situation was reviewed,” Mr. Marinakis said. The KYSEA meeting began at 6 p.m. Sunday local time (1500GMT) and ended a little before 8 p.m.
According to the information, the assessment of the government staff is that the situation in the Middle East is currently de-escalating. The same estimates say that the Israeli side will not initiate any further escalation, but no one can say with certainty what will happen in the near future, as the uncertainties remain and are many. At the same time, it is noted that there is an open channel of communication between Athens and Tel Aviv.
