There was a pure downward session at the Athens Stock Exchange, with the main indices moving permanently with a negative sign.

Specifically, the General Index moved steadily downwards, with the pressures escalating as time passed and eventually closed at the daily low of 1,357.3 points with a strong decline of 2.4%.

Turnover remained at significantly higher levels at 157.28 million, of which 17 million through 14 packages (4 to Jumbo for 6.7 million), with trading volume at 37.2 million units.

The banking index closed down -2.14% at 1,161.4 points, the FTSE high cap closed down 2.25% at 3,296.79 points, and the FTSEM mid cap closed down -2.68% at 2,170.39 points.

Moreover, in the last 4 down sessions, the GI now has cumulative losses of 4.44% and has lost more than 60 points.

The Athens Stock Exchange, which not only failed to capitalize on yesterday's recovery of global markets but also moved in the opposite direction, recording significant losses, today with obviously "weakened" defenses surrendered to sellers from the start, losing the crucial support of 1,360 points at the close, which is crucial for the short-term course.

In the banking index, which led the turnover today (€65 million in the 4 banks with Piraeus, Alpha, and National Bank in the top three positions on the board), sellers focused on Alpha, which made a 3.6% plunge, retreating to €1.518 euros (on transactions worth 16.4 million).

Piraeus with 20.8 million fell to €3.718 and Νational Bank with €18.6 million to €7.066 both down 2%, while Eurobak with €9.7 million was at €1.804 down 1.37%.

The only security to be rescued in the FTSE was Ellaktor but that too with a marginal gain of 0.2% (€968k), with Terna Group shares under the most pressure.

At the top of the liquidations based on turnover, apart from banks, Jumbo at €26.02 with -2.5% (11.7 million) OTE at €14 with -1.8% (8 million). ) PPC at €10.91 with a 3.6% plunge (7.4 million) while Mytilineos limited losses to 0.5% closing at €35.36  (11.3 million) and OPAP at €16.09 with -0.8% (6.5 million).

Autohellas, Lamda, Cenergy still lost more than 2% on the FTSE, EYDAP, Coca Cola, Quest lost more than 3% and Aegean closed at -4.3%.

The picture was similar in the mid-cap sector, where Intrakat made strong losses of 3.19% on turnover of €1.9 million and Intralot lost 2.87% on turnover of €1.3 million, while Intracom plunged 3.9%, Lavipharm closed -4.5%, and AVAX closed -5.15%.

The exception of the day in the lower strata was PPA with a gain of 2.24% to 22.8 euros and a turnover of 100 thousand euros.
