FAMAR Pharmaceuticals is making new investments in its distribution centre in Thebes, aiming to further strengthen its leading position in the storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products on behalf of third parties (3PL).
STORACE CAPACITY
More specifically, in response to the ever-increasing demand for storage and distribution services, FAMAR is implementing targeted investments with the addition of three new modules, which will significantly increase the storage potential of the Distribution Center.
Specifically, these three state-of-the-art modules, designed to meet the strict requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, are expected to add 6,000 square meters of storage space, creating an additional 7,500 pallet positions.
One of the three modules, covering 2,000 square metres, will be for handling medicines requiring refrigeration. It will be a 2,500-pallet module equipped with modern refrigeration chambers, which will ensure that refrigeration conditions (between +2°C and +8°C) are perfectly maintained at every stage, from storage to loading. This expansion doubles the storage capacity for formulations with special requirements, offering customers a high quality service in accordance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
At the same time, FAMAR is increasing its Distribution Center fleet with modern dual-zone trucks with temperature-controlled chambers (2°C–8°C and 15°C–25°C), ensuring even greater geographical coverage. These trucks, supported by an integrated telematics system that provides real-time temperature alerts, ensuring optimal conditions for pharmaceutical formulations in transit. In this way, FAMAR achieves over 90% deliveries by own means throughout Greece.
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES
At the same time, FAMAR, a pioneer in the adoption of innovative technologies, is leading the smooth transition from the EOF label to the serialization of medicines by 2025. At the Distribution Center, FAMAR has launched investments to provide off-line serialization services, where the company has many years of experience as it has been implementing this process, as early as 2020, in its production plants. This is a process that enhances the safety and traceability of medicines in a way that fully complies with Greek legislation.
Mr. Apostolos Sayakos, General Manager of FAMAR in Greece, commented on the investments, saying: "The expansion of the Distribution Centre in Thebes and the enhancement of our services with modern technological means are critical steps to support the growing demand and offer safer and more efficient solutions to our customers. With these moves, FAMAR is not only ensuring its dominance in the industry but also developing a sustainable strategy that will ensure our long-term success."
