The call for technical and market studies, as well as special studies for the operation of the Greece-Saudi Arabia electricity interconnection, was decided at a meeting of the board of directors of Saudi Greek Interconnection, which took place in Riyadh, with the participation of the heads of Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE), Manos Manousakis, and National Grid SA, Waleed Al-Saadi.

They also discussed the areas in which there can be an exchange of expertise between the Operators and agreed to set up the respective technical groups in the near future. The call for studies will take place in the coming days.

The technical team that the two managers set up after the company's founding in February 2024 completed the tender documents in order to request the pertinent studies. This is a project of strategic importance, as ADMIE has emphasized, and it will help "green" Europe's energy mix by providing access to new clean energy sources.

The management of ADMIE also held a meeting with the management of Dawiyat Integrated, a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company, specialising in telecommunications, in order to explore the possibilities of synergies with the group's telecommunications arm, Grid Telecom. It is noted that the partnership between ADMIE and National Grid SA had been agreed at the inter-state level, with the establishment of a special purpose company called Saudi Greek Interconnection, in which the two sides each hold a 50% stake.
