"We have reduced food inflation by about 40 percent, so from 8.3 percent it's down to close to 5 percent, but of course we're not where we want to be, which is below 2 percent." Kostas Skrekas, the Minister of Development and Competitiveness, emphasized this while telling Parapolitika 90.1 that "inflation in supermarkets has been almost zero" compared to last year.

He noted that "accuracy is the biggest problem facing households, and it is the number one priority for the government to address it." Furthermore, with regard to general inflation, he said that, general inflation in Greece is, roughly, at 3% at the moment, "where we believe that in the coming months we will see a deceleration. The faster deceleration that we are seeing in food is largely due to the measures that our government has taken. Greece has taken more measures than any other country in Europe."

He also referred to the e-katanalotis platform, which allows consumers to make complaints, which he described as "very important because it also helps the control mechanisms to make focused and quick checks in order to protect consumers.".

On the e-katanalotis platform, the minister recalled that the new upgraded platform has been operational since Holy Week and that "we have already started to communicate it, and communication will be intensified in the coming period in order for consumers to take advantage of the possibilities it has. The feature we have integrated is that the consumer can send a complaint electronically from their mobile phone. It's a really important addition because it helps the enforcement mechanisms do focused and quick checks.
