Cenergy Holdings announces that the new project award to Corinth Pipeworks, in its steel pipe division, will be implemented with steel accompanied by reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) emission certificates. Subsea7, one of its long-standing customers, has chosen Corinth Pipeworks' innovative proposal implemented in collaboration with steel producer ArcelorMittal for this award.

The company was selected to manufacture and supply pipes for a subsea project in the North Sea using ArcelorMittal hot-rolled plates with XCarb certifications. Specifically, it will produce 39 km of 16-inch-diameter straight seam pipe using the high-frequency welding (HFW) method for a subsea application called "Pipe-In-Pipe."

Corinth Pipeworks and ArcelorMittal have entered into an agreement to reduce the carbon footprint of the pipes produced, using CO2 reduction emission certificates, in order to support their customers in reducing their indirect emissions.

XCarb is a range of ArcelorMittal's flexible low-carbon steel solutions based on carbon-free projects already being implemented today.

In XCarb certificates, the use of recycled steel and renewable energy enables customers to reduce Scope 3 emissions, reinforcing their commitment to a low-emission circular economy.

Elias Bekiros, General Manager of Corinth Pipeworks, said: "Partnerships that strengthen our efforts to reduce carbon emissions are critical to the path to a sustainable future for all. Steel contributes significantly to the environmental footprint of our products, and working with established companies that share the same values as us is key to promoting sustainable solutions."
