The 4-day winning streak was halted today, May 13, when the Athens Stock Exchange saw its first negative session of the month. Prior to the 1,500 points, buyers took a brief pause.

The Athens Stock Exchange recorded the first negative session of May today (13/5), which put a brake on the 4-day positive streak, while buyers took a short break before the 1,500 points.

The liquidations, which occurred as a result of the need to assimilate gains (35% rally from the October lows), proved to be perfectly controlled, not endangering the steady upward trend of the Greek market.

More specifically, during today's session, the General Index recorded a mild decline of 0.53% to 1,476.12 points, losing about eight points compared to Friday's close (1,484.06 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 15 points (1,471.01 to 1,486.12 points), with the turnover of transactions ranging at 119 million euros, of which 29 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.

The banking index digested last week's 8-year highs, retracing -0.46% to 1,284 points, pending new first-quarter results.

Alpha Bank's shares declined -1.95% to -1.95% and EUR 1.612, National Bank's shares fell -0.37% to -0.37% and EUR 8.07, Eurobank's shares narrowed -0.14% to -0.14% and EUR 2.076, while Piraeus' shares rose +0.26% to +0.26% and EUR 3.87.

In the high-cap index (-0.70% and 3,573 points), OTE's shares fell by 2.3% and retreated to 14.09 euros. Shares of Terna Energy, Mytilineos, PPC, GEK Terna and Jumbo also lost more than 1%. For its part, Sarantis shares lost 2.5%. On the flip side, Hellaktor's shares climbed +2.6% and €2.76, flirting with 10-year highs. And Quest's shares, which is close to selling its ACS subsidiary, soared +5.2% to +5.2% and 6 euros. Helleniq Energy finished +2.1% and EUR 8.6, while Aegean shares took another step towards historic highs of EUR 13.7 (+1% and EUR 13.3).

As for the mid-cap index (-0.51% and 2,380 points), AVAX's share stood out positively at +7.9% and EUR 1.58, with Lavipharm's share following at +4.7% and EUR 0.89. In contrast, Intracom Holdings' shares contracted -3.3% to -3.3% and EUR 3.56, while Kri-Kri's shares narrowed to -2.3% and EUR 10.4. At the same time, shares of Intralot, EYATH, EXAE and Austriacard lost at least 1% each.
