At 3.1% in April - Food prices up 5.4%
According to data released by ELSTAT, Greece's inflation rate in April was 3.1%, indicating a slight decrease from 3.2% in March.

Inflation in Greece stood at 3.1% in April, showing a marginal decline from 3.2% in March, according to data released by ELSTAT (Hellenic Statistical Authority). Food prices rose 5.4% in April, with olive oil up nearly 64% and water, soft drinks and juices up 12.5%, while prices of fruit and fish also saw double-digit increases.

In particular, ELSTAT data show that the comparison of the General CPI for April 2024 with the corresponding Index for April 2023 showed an increase of 3.1% compared to the 3.0% increase recorded in the corresponding comparison of 2023 with 2022. 

The General CPI in April 2024, compared to March 2024, showed an increase of 0.5%, compared to an increase of 0.6% in the same month of the previous year. 

The average CPI for the 12 months of May 2023 to April 2024, compared to the corresponding CPI for the 12 months of May 2022 to April 2023, showed an increase of 2.8%, compared to an increase of 8.6% in the corresponding comparison of the 12 months of May 2022 to April 2023 with the 12 months of May 2021 to April 2022.
