In the presence of the Secretary General of Shipping and Ports, Evangelos Kyriazopoulos; the Minister of Shipping, Island Policy, Christos Stylianidis; the Managing Director, Dimitris Politis; and the Executive Advisor of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED), Panagiotis Stamboulidis, 4 million contract euros were signed today, Thursday, in Alexandroupolis for the road project that will connect the port's new commercial pier with the new ring road.

The project of the road connection of the new commercial pier of the port of Alexandroupolis with the new Regional Road provides for the construction of a 1,500-meter-long road axis within the land zone of the port and is part of the broader strategic plan for the upgrading of the infrastructure of the OLA S.A, with a total value of 18.2 million euros. The Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy and Panagiotis Psaltakos, the President and CEO of the contractor TEKAL, signed the €4 million contract for the road link project.

The Strategic Procurement Facility (PPF) of the Hellenic Investment Fund prepared the relevant studies, financed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. The interventions are carried out under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" with funding from the European Union, Next Generation EU.

Its implementation will contribute to the diversion of the port's commercial traffic directly to Egnatia Odos and the consequent traffic decongestion of the city, as until now the urban road network has been responsible for all the port's traffic.
