Primary cash surplus of €2.71 billion in the first quarter
Compared to €1.45 billion during the same period last year, the primary budget surplus on a cash basis climbed to €2.7 billion in the four months of January–April 2024 according to the Bank of Greece.

The primary surplus of the budget on a cash basis increased to €2.7 billion in the four months of January–April 2024, compared to €1.45 billion in the same period last year. 

In more detail, according to Bank of Greece data, the central government's cash balance in the first quarter of the year showed a deficit of €570 million, compared to a deficit of €1.915 billion in the corresponding period of 2023. This development reflects the significant increase in regular budget revenues, which stood at €20.612 billion, up from €17.785 billion last year.

As for the expenditure of the regular budget, it stood at €19.521 billion, up from €19.902 billion in the January–April 2023 period.
