The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) announced today, May 20, the completion of the reorganization of Greece’s tax services in the region of Attica.
The change is a crucial component of larger initiatives to reform the tax code, with a particular emphasis on combating tax evasion.
The initiative is a manifestation of the dedication of both the Ministry of Finance and AADE to enhance tax compliance and increase public revenue by means of more stringent enforcement.
In order to detect tax evasion, AADE's complex strategy makes use of artificial intelligence, new technologies, a universal connection of cash registers and POS devices, and thorough cross-checks of declared incomes and assets.
The directive from the Ministry of Finance and AADE to all state tax auditing services is to combat tax evasion with all available resources, aiming to increase budget revenues and eventually adjust tax criteria and rates affecting employees, pensioners, professionals, and farmers.
The reorganization transfers responsibilities for property transfer and real estate ownership taxation from several local tax offices, including IG’ Athens, Agioi Anargyroi, Glyfada, Ilioupoli, Kallithea, Nea Ionia, A’ Piraeus, E’ Piraeus, Nikaia, and Peristeri, to Attica’s Taxation Center.
Henceforth, all taxpayers in Attica will be served digitally through the “My Requests” application on the myAADE digital portal (myaade.gov.gr) or via the myAADE app.
Additionally, taxpayers can receive phone support through the Taxpayer Service Center at +30 213 162 1000, available on working days from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.
