The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, Giorgos Pitsilis, spoke about the next generation of the Hellenic Tax Authority, which focuses on centralised digital management of procedures, modern control and friendly service, at the 9th International Conference on Taxpayers' Rights. The conference was hosted by the University of Antwerp from June 4 to 6 and featured internationally renowned speakers specialising in tax issues.

In his speech, the Governor of the AADE presented the new organisational model of the AADE, which aims to increase the operational capacity of the services and includes:

  • Centralization of tax functions, with simultaneous redesign and automation of business processes
the abolition of local competence and the restrictions it entails
  • Establishment of nationwide specialisation nuclei, making appropriate use of digital and human resources
  • Establishment of local tax services for taxpayers who do not have access to digital means

"Our new organisational model leverages the potential of digitisation and automation of processes, allowing for more efficient use of human resources in more demanding tasks. It provides accessible and personalised services to taxpayers, enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax administration and is expected to reduce administrative costs, a benefit that will be returned to citizens," Pitsilis said in his speech.

He then went on to analyze the new digital tools of the AADE: myAADEapp, myDATA, and Timologio, where citizens and businesses seem to have "embraced" them, as up to now:

  • Over 270,000 Android users and 164,000 iOS users have installed the myAADEapp application for mobile devices
  • More than 280,000 cash registers have been interconnected with POS, while only a small percentage, around 3%, have not met their obligations at all
  • 1.4 million registered businesses have transmitted more than 3.7 billion documents via myDATA with a total value of more than 2.7 trillion euros.
  • Over 470 thousand users use the timologio application
  • 20 e-invoicing software providers have been granted an authorisation of suitability.
