The Independent Public Revenue Authority is putting into production the new version (ICS2 v.3) of the European Import Control System, which speeds up the movement of goods, offers greater security and protection to citizens, and further ensures the efficient and uninterrupted operation of customs.

Specifically, Circular E.2042/2024 issued by the Governor of the Hellenic Customs Service, George Pitsilis, provides instructions for conducting a risk analysis on imported goods before their arrival, in accordance with the European Import Control System (ICS 2). The implementation of the new version leads to even more timely and targeted checks while ensuring the smooth and fast movement of trade for over 2,200 transport companies.

In particular, carriers, freight forwarders, and their agents in all EU Member States, Switzerland, Norway, and Northern Ireland must now submit the required Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) with full details of goods moving by sea, road, or rail, including postal and courier consignments.

The main changes relate to the submission of data regarding the commodity code, EORI number, and buyer/seller information.
