The results from controls at the customs in last five months
Customs continues to conduct stringent controls as part of the Independent Public Revenue Authority's operational planning, and it has made significant progress in stopping the illegal trafficking of tobacco and cash as well as smuggling.

As part of the Independent Public Revenue Authority's operational planning, customs continues to enforce stringent regulations and has had remarkable success in the battle against cash smuggling, illicit trafficking in tobacco, alcohol, and drug products, counterfeit goods, and energy products.
Indicatively, the auditors of the Hellenic Revenue Service confiscated a total of over:
- 800.000 €, 90.000 $ and 9.700G BP liquid assets
- 1,000,000 € of duty & tax due on smuggled tobacco
- 10.120 lt. of illegal alcoholic products
For example, customs auditors proceeded with the detection and freezing of significant amounts of money. Specifically, at the Athens Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos," while they were not declared to Customs, they found:
- 46.500€ & 9.080$ to a passenger who had arrived from Istanbul
- 13.850€ & 2.000$ to a passenger who had arrived from Istanbul.
- 40,000€ to a passenger who had arrived from Geneva
- 27.000$ to a passenger who had arrived from Cairo
- 53,000€ to a passenger who had arrived from Tehran via Istanbul
- 75,700€ to a passenger who had arrived from Tehran via Istanbul
- 28.800€ & 11.000$ to a passenger who had arrived from Doha, Qatar
- 40,000€ to a passenger who had arrived from Tehran
- 230,000€ to a passenger arriving from Jordan
