Central government cash deficit reduced to €537 million
On a cash basis, the budget's main surplus for the five months of January through May was €1.6 billion, down from €2.9 billion during the same period the previous year.

The primary surplus of the budget in the five months of January-May was €1.6 billion on a cash basis, compared to €2.9 billion in the same period last year.

According to Bank of Greece data, the central government's cash balance showed a deficit of €537 million, compared to a deficit of €1.920 billion in the corresponding period of 2023.

In this period, regular budget revenues amounted to €25.272 billion, down from €23.117 billion last year.

As for regular budget expenditure, it amounted to €23.676 billion, up from €24.629 billion in the January-May 2023 period.
