The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Konstantinos Hatzidakis, submitted the 2025 State Budget to the Plenary Session.
Primary surplus close to €13.5 billion in 10 months
The provisional data on the execution of the state budget announced today by the Ministry of Economy and Finance show a steady excess of targets both at the level of the ten-month period and in October.
Tax revenues exceeded €1.85 billion in the first nine months of the year
Tax revenues of €48,867 million were recorded in the execution of the state budget for the period January-September, up by €2,494 million, or 5.4%, against the target included in the 2024 Budget's explanatory report.

€7.6 billion surplus in the eight months of 2024
The state budget showed a strong overperformance of tax revenues, which were up by €1.899 billion or 4.6% against the target, in January-August
Primary surplus of €7.6 billion in the eight months - €43 billion in tax revenues
The provisional data on the state budget's implementation, which the Ministry of Finance released on Monday, show better performance in tax collection this year by €1.342 billion but exceeding the target in the primary surplus by €1.12 billion for the period of January to August 2024.
Tax revenue €36.8 billion in 7 months
Tax revenues amounted to €36.86 billion in the January-July period, up €2.19 billion, or 6.3%, against the 2024 budget target.
Surplus of €5.68 billion in the seven months January-July
The primary surplus of the state budget for the seven months of January–July 2024 amounts to 5.68 billion euros, against a target for a surplus of 1.65 billion euros and a primary surplus of 3.558 billion euros for the same period in 2023.
Central government cash deficit reduced to €537 million
On a cash basis, the budget's main surplus for the five months of January through May was €1.6 billion, down from €2.9 billion during the same period the previous year.
€3.25 billion primary surplus for months January - April
A primary surplus of €3.25 billion was recorded in the budget for the January-April quarter, compared to an expected surplus of €631 million. This is because nearly €1 billion of the first ownership tax installment was collected ahead of schedule.
Growth of 2.5% this year and primary surpluses of 2.1% up to 2025
Stronger growth and a faster decline in inflation than in the EU are foreseen in Greece's Stability Program submitted to the Commission.
