The Independent Authority for Public Revenues (ΑADE) noted an increase in debtors from January to April. In the space of one month (from March to April), debtors increased by 900,000 and have now reached 4,645,591. In the same period, the amount of unpaid taxes reached 2.6 billion euros.

In particular, the data from the AADE for the first quarter of the year show that the "fresh" overdue debts reached 2.924 billion euros, while the unpaid taxes amounted to 2.607 billion euros in the period January–April 2024.

In total, overdue debts to the tax authorities have reached €107.057 billion, of which €26.326 billion are uncollectible, resulting in a net debt of €80.731 billion. Of the 4,645,591 debtors, 2,112,703 are open to seizure of deposits and assets, while 1,520,015 debtors are subject to debt collection measures.

According to the data from the AADE:

Between January and February, new overdue debts amounted to €1.735 billion. Of these, 1.52 billion euros are unpaid taxes from individuals and businesses.

The total of overdue debts (old, pre-2024, and new) has reached €107.18 billion. Of these, €26.3 billion is considered uncollectible, with the recoverable amount limited to €80.86 billion.

Taxpayers in debt to the tax authorities amount to 3.98 million. In fact, 1.5 million have been subject to enforcement measures.

In 2023, a total of €5.4 billion of overdue debts were collected. In the first two months of the year, collections have reached €968 million. This development is the result of the creation of the new attestation and collection centres, which monitor the repayment of debts, and through the new AADE application, messages are sent every month about taxpayers' obligations.

VAT payments on time amounted to 84.95%, as €1.28 billion of confirmed debts of €1.5 billion to the state coffers were paid on time.

- ENFIA. In the first two months of the year, the collection rate of ENFIA was 82.47%.

income tax of legal entities. 91.47% of the tax was paid on time.

Personal Income Tax. The worst performance in all categories was recorded for natural persons. 76.06 of the tax was paid on time

As the statistics of the AADE show, 1,481 taxpayers have challenged the decisions of the tax authorities between January and February. Of these cases, 1,008 were examined and closed, of which 258 were accepted and 784 were rejected, In 4 cases, the taxpayers declared waivers and the remaining 12 were implicitly rejected without being examined. Many of the taxpayers and businesses whose appeals were rejected have appealed to the administrative courts. The legislation stipulates that it is mandatory that before cases reach the courts, they must first "pass through" the Dispute Resolution Division.
