Businesses that replace their already connected cash systems and/or active POS must strictly adhere to the "once connected, always connected" principle in accordance with the guidelines laid out in the A. 1116/2024 decision of the Governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, George Pitsilis.

In particular, businesses that have already interconnected their Cash Systems with their POS and intend to replace either the former or the latter are obliged to ensure that the interconnection of the new systems/terminals is completed.

  • immediately, provided that it is done in accordance with the provisions of A. 1098/2022
within 24 hours, if done in accordance with A.1155/2023.
  • Therefore, no extension is foreseen and the interconnection should be completed within the above-mentioned timeframes.

Failure to comply with the above obligation will result in the imposition of penalties for failure to interconnect the cash register and POS.

By the same decision, businesses that have proceeded with the interconnection of their cash system with payment instruments, which, however, does not fully comply with the specifications, are granted an extension until October 31, 2024, for full compliance, provided that:

  • their payment instruments do not allow for the free input of amounts, and
  • The AADE has received notification from the NSPs (Non-Seller Providers).

The above decision avoids circumventing the deadlines given for the smooth interconnection of businesses, depending on their Cash Systems and their operational needs, and encourages compliance with the obligations, taking into account the enormous efforts made by the vast majority of the businesses liable.
