The European Commission disbursed yesterday to Greece the fourth payment of €2.3 billion (net of pre-financing) in loans under the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF), as the Athens News Agency states.

As for all Member States, the payments made to Greece under the RRF are performance-based and conditional on Greece's implementation of the investments and reforms outlined in the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

On April 17, 2024, Greece submitted to the Commission its fourth request for a payment of EUR 2.3 billion under the RRF. This request covers one objective, namely further progress in the provision of the loan facility. This measure aims to mobilise private investment in areas such as green and digital transition, increasing export capacity, and research, development, and innovation.

On June 14, 2024, the Commission adopted a positive preliminary assessment of Greece's payment request. The positive opinion of the Council's Economic and Financial Committee on the payment request paved the way for the Commission to take a final decision on the disbursement of the funds.
