The total building activity (private and public) in April, based on the issued building permits, amounted to 2,823 building permits, corresponding to 621,905 m2 and 2,700,893 m3 of volume, i.e., an increase of 40.1% in the number of building permits, an increase of 38.6% in surface area, and an increase of 29.9% in volume compared to the corresponding month of 2023, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority.

The issued permits for private building activity in the whole country in April 2024 amounted to 2,798 building permits, corresponding to 604,732 m2 of surface area and 2,565,475 m3 of volume, showing an increase of 40.3% in the number of building permits, an increase of 39.4% in surface area, and an increase of 27.3% in volume compared to the corresponding month of 2023.

The issued permits for public building activity in the month of April 2024 in the whole country amounted to 25 building permits, corresponding to 17,173 m2 of area and 135,418 m3 of volume. The share of public building activity in the total building volume for the month of April 2024 is 5.0%.

During the period of the last twelve months, i.e., from May 2023 to April 2024, the total building activity (private-public) based on the issued building permits in the whole country amounted to 30,320 building permits, corresponding to 6,953,774 m2 area and 31,375,645 m3 volume.

Compared to the corresponding period of May 2022–April 2023, there was an increase of 17.0% in the number of building permits, an increase of 18.8% in surface area, and an increase of 18.8% in volume. During the same period, May 2023–April 2024, private construction activity showed in the whole country an increase of 17.1% in the number of issued building permits, an increase of 19.6% in surface area, and an increase of 19.4% in volume compared to the corresponding period, May 2022–April 2023.  The share of public construction activity in the total construction volume for the above period is 2.3%.

In the four months of January–April, the Total Building Activity shows, in the whole country, an increase of 41.5% in the number of building permits, an increase of 38.4% in surface area, and an increase of 26.2% in volume compared to the corresponding quarter of the year 2023. During the same period from January to April 2024, private construction activity showed in the whole of the country an increase of 41.8% in the number of building permits, an increase of 40.2% in area, and an increase of 26.8% in volume compared to the period from January to April 2023.
