Following a suggestion from the Governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, Giorgos Pitsilis, the Ministry of Finance decided that taxis must post special signage informing customers of the requirement to accept card payments and specifying the form of the signage.

According to the decision, this is a special sticker that is placed on the glass of the rear right door of the vehicle and reads in Greek and English the following:

The driver is obliged:

  • Issue a receipt at the end of the journey.
  • To accept payment by card.

The customer is NOT obliged to pay at the end of the journey.

  • Not to pay by cash.
  • Pay before receiving the legal receipt.

The Panhellenic Federation of Taxis has access to the sticker's production at no cost to the AADE so that it can guarantee the decision's execution.

Taxis are required to have the sticker affixed to the vehicle within three weeks of receiving it from the Panhellenic Taxi Federation. Failure to affix the signage will result in a fine of 1,000 euros.
