The Athens Stock Exchange achieved its fifth consecutive upward session today (16/8), with buyers continuing the recovery effort from the low of 1,341 points (close 5/8).
As a result, the Greek market re-approached the 1,440 resistance level, ending the week at +3.5% and "dropping" the cumulative losses of August to just -3.1%.
The improved sentiment abroad, as a result of the recovery of confidence in the US outlook, was the main "fuel" that "cushioned" the attractive prices of many listed companies.
More specifically, on the last day of the week, the General Index rose by 0.62% to 1,431.88 points, gaining about nine points compared to Wednesday's close (1,423.05 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at eight points (from 1,430.05 to 1,438.67 points), with trading turnover at 109 million euros, of which 13 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.
On the board, now banks were the main "protagonist", as Ethniki and Piraeus expanded by 2.4% and 1.3%, respectively. OTE and Mytilineos shares also closed above +1%, while PPC fell to €11.5.
The share of NBG climbed +2.40% to 8,114 euros, the share of Piraeus rose +1.32% to 3,986 euros, the share of Eurobank closed +0.25% to 2,045 euros; and the share of Alpha strengthened +0.56% to 1,607 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.65% and 3,492 points), Titan Cement's shares "flew" to +2.39% and 32.1 euros, with Metlen and OTE shares gaining at least 1%. At the same time, Hellaktor's shares climbed 3.2% and approached 2.00 euros. On the flip side, shares of Autohellas, Helleniq Energy and Sarantis slipped more than 1%, with PPC shares losing 0.9% and falling to 11.5 euros.
As for the mid-cap index (+0.93% and 2,282 points), Intracom shares stood out at +4.6% and 3.26 euros. Lavipharm, Quest, and AVAX shares also gained more than +2%, while Intralot and Austriacard followed at around +1.5%. Optima and EXAE were up by almost 1%. On the other hand, shares of Techniki Olympiaki lost 2%. special mention should be made of Kekrops, whose shares expanded by +8% and 1.5 euros.
