The Athens Stock Exchange continues at a low tempo today (22/8), with investors engaging in selective investments, remaining in the area around 1,430 points.

In the absence of domestic news, attention is focused abroad, where the US interest rate issue has been monopolizing interest for several days amid expectations for a reduction in the cost of money in September.

In this environment, in the 4th session of the week, the General Index declines marginally by 0.16% to 1,430.27 points, losing two points compared to Wednesday's close (1,432.53 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends to one point (from 1,430.27 to 1,431.78 points), with the turnover of the trading volume hovering at just 2 million in the first 15 minutes.

The banking index, influenced by the broader market sentiment, is at -0.29% and 1,274 points, about 6% away from the 1,354 point peaks.

ΝΒG shares retreat to -0.40% and 8.05 euros, Piraeus shares fall to -0.23% and 3.847 euros; Eurobank shares trade at -0.43% and 2.071 euros; and Alpha shares strengthen to +0.22% and 1.59 euros.

In the high-cap index (-0.11% and 3,484 points), PPC shares retreat to -1% and 11.5 euros, with EYDAP shares losing 1.2% and falling to 5.5 euros. OPAP and OTE are also down 0.5%. On the flip side, shares of Hellaktor are up +1.7% and 2.06 euros. Helleniq Energy and Elvalhalcor follow at +1%, while Titan's shares are heading towards a new all-time high (+0.3% and 33.4 euros).

As for the mid-cap index (-0.36% and 2,261 points), Optima's shares fall -0.8% and 12.0 euros, with shares of ADMIE, Quest and Intracom losing up to 0.5%. Kri Kri, which trades without dividend rights, is down slightly by 0.4%. In contrast, Intralot and Fourlis are up 0.4%.
