€4.315 billion in new overdue debts in 7 months
The new overdue debts to the tax authorities in the first seven months of 2024 totaled €4.315 billion, an increase of 11.5% over the same period the previous year, when they were recorded at €3.871 billion.

The new overdue debts to the tax authorities in the first seven months of 2024 totaled €4.315 billion, an increase of 11.5% over the same period the previous year, when they were recorded at €3.871 billion.

In July, new arrears reached €357 million and were down 32.6% compared to the same period last year, when they reached €530 million. 

According to AADE data, 3,829,531 taxpayers had overdue debts in July 2024, compared to 3,984,904 in June 2023 (a decrease of 3.9%). 

For the 7-month period, total collections against new arrears reached 1,422 billion euros, compared to 1,159 billion euros in the same period in 2023 (an increase of 22.6%).

In particular, since last month, debts have recorded an increase of around €200 million, when in the near past they were increasing by €1 billion per month. In total, debts have reached €107.27 billion, of which 26.3 billion are irrecoverable.
