The Athens Stock Exchange fell for the seventh time in the last eight sessions today (8/10), with sellers maintaining, albeit with difficulty, the lead, despite the counterattack of buyers in the last minutes.

The geopolitical crisis in the Middle East was once again the main "wound" for the Greek market, which since September 27 has recorded cumulative losses of 3%, unable to regain its positive momentum.

Today, in fact, there was also a partial weakening of the value of transactions, which "fell" to the EUR 100 million mark for the first time since September 18, with the placement in Ethniki and the AMK in Cenergy absorbing a large part of the available liquidity.

Specifically, in the second session of the week, the General Index declined slightly by 0.17% to 1,427.29 points, losing about 2.5 points compared to Monday's close (1,429.73 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at nine points (from 1,418.87 to 1,427.42 points), with a turnover of 100 million euros, of which 5.3 million euros were pre-agreed packages.

The banking index "opened" at -10% of the distance from this year's high of 1,354 points, sliding in a controlled manner to -0.68% and 1,216 points.

ΝΒG shares narrowed to -1.53% and EUR 7.584, Piraeus shares followed at -0.88% and EUR 3.722, Eurobank shares fell to -0.58% and EUR 1.97, while Alpha shares strengthened to -0.77% and EUR 1.5015.

In the high-cap index (-0.50% and 3,447 points), Cenergy's shares, amid the ongoing EUR 200 million capital raise, folded to -2.0% and EUR 9.55. Coca-Cola, Titan, and Aegean lost between 1.3% and 1.7%, while OPAP shares followed at -0.9% and 15.8 euros. On the other hand, GEK TERNA's shares, following the deal with Marianna Latsis' family office for Attiki Odos, rose +1.2% and 17.3 euros. Sarantis and Ellaktor gained 1.5% and 1.4%, respectively, while Lamda flew to a new 3-year high, "touching 7.7 euros.

As for the mid-cap index (-0.23% and 2,293 points), Intrakat shares stood out negatively at -2.7% and 4.7 euros, with Fourlis and AVAX shares following at -2%. Intracom and Dimand were down 1% and 1.4%, respectively. On the flip side, shares of Optima and EYATH gained around +1%. A special mention should be made of Attica Bank, which continued its... free fall, completing another limit down to -30%.
