The turnover of retail trade businesses strengthened in August 2024 from the corresponding period last year, but from July 2024 it showed a significant decline, according to data released today by the Hellenic Statistical Authority.
Specifically, for the retail trade sector enterprises with the obligation to keep double-entry books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in August 2024 amounted to €3.72 billion, an increase of 3.0% compared to August 2023, which stood at €3.61 billion, and a decrease of 12.6% compared to July 2024, which stood at €4.25 billion.
For enterprises in the retail trade sector, excluding motor vehicles, food, and fuel, which are required to keep double-entry books, for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in August 2024 amounted to 1.03 billion euros, an increase of 4.4% compared with August 2023, when it stood at 0.98 billion euros, and a decrease of 15.5% compared with July 2024, when it stood at 1.22 billion euros.
