Athens is trying to collect part of yesterday's losses and to interrupt the five-day downward streak, with the climate showing improvement internationally.

Athens is trying to collect part of yesterday's losses and to interrupt the five-day downward streak, with the climate showing improvement internationally.

Specifically, the General Index is moving steadily upwards and is at 1,380 points with a 1% gain, while at the high of the day it had reached 1,384 points (+1.3%).  Trading activity stands at 40 million, while 8.1 million shares have been traded.

The banking index is up 0.7% at 1,179 points, the FTSE is up 1% at 3,346 points, as is the midcap FTSEM, which is up +0.65% at 2,194 points.

Piraeus stands out both in the banking sector and in general, with +1.4% at €3.58 and the largest trading volume of the day at €4.5.  NBG is also attempting to pick up pace with +1% at 6.95 euros, while Eurobank and Alpha remain without significant changes.

Boosting the market is mainly Titan with a jump of now 5.73% to new all-time highs at 36 euros, while still with gains of more than 2% are Viohalco, Sarantis, and Ellaktor, after the 35% increase in net profit announced this morning.

Metlen picks up part of yesterday's losses (-4.8%) with +1.9%, while in contrast, PPC (-4.97% yesterday) remains around unchanged. Still with gains of more than 1% on the FTSE are Cenergy, OPAP, Coca-Cola, HELPE, AIA, Aegean, and Autohellas.

In contrast, only Jumbo is down on the index, and that with a small 0.3% drop.

Similarly, in the FTSEM only three stocks are down (Dimand, Austriacard, Olympic Technicals), with HSE leading the way at +1.9%.
