With a relatively dynamic reaction, the Athens Stock Exchange ended its five-day downward streak in a session that was accompanied by the return of non-banking blue chips to a leading role.

In particular, the General Index moved steadily with a positive sign and closed at 1,384.6 points with a gain of 1.31%, having moved intraday up to 1,389.19 (+1.64%).

In any case, however, after a long time the session was not purely bank-centric, with the sector remaining at around 40% of the day's trading activity (when since early November it had reached over 70% in some cases).

The main boost to the market was provided by Titan's 4.41% jump to 35.5 euros, with the 6th highest turnover of the day at 6.7 million euros, while at the high of the day it was as high as 36.25 euros (+6.46%).

In the banks, Piraeus stood out, moving at 3.63 euros with +2.69% on transactions worth 12.2 million, with ΝBG (12.8 million) recovering 7 euros (7.016) with +1.98%.

Alpha (7m) gained 1.16% to 1.56 euros, while Eurobank closed at 1.996 euros with +0.9% on transactions worth 5.98m.  Following Titan at the top of the FTSE was Cenergy (2.7 m) up +3.31% to €8.42, with OTE (4.9 m) at €14.92 up +2.19%.

Aegean (750k) and Autohellas (76k) also gained around 2.2%  Metlen (4.8m) recovered to EUR 31.28 with +1.76%, OPAP (8.6m) recovered to EUR 15 (15.03) with +1.2%, and Lambda (1m) to EUR 7 (7.08) with +1.72%, with Sarantis (344k) up 1.93%.

The picture was similar in the mid-cap sector, where only two stocks were negative (Intracom at -0.59% and Dimand at -1.65%), with Quest (109k) up +3.7% and Fourlis (216k) up +3.62%.

Strong gains of 3.37% were also recorded by Kri Kri (233k) at 13.8 euros, PPA (212k) revisited the 30 euros at +1.01%, while Intralot, the highest traded stock in the index (512k), remained unchanged at 0.874 euros.
