The turnover of retail trade businesses increased marginally by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, according to data released today by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Turnover stood at 18.84 billion euros, up from 18.68 billion euros in the third quarter of 2023.
However, retail turnover was significantly higher in the third quarter of this year compared to the second quarter of 2024, as it increased by 4% compared to 18.11 billion euros.
As stated in the ELSTAT release, for businesses in the retail trade sector, excluding the motor vehicles, food, and fuel sectors, turnover in the third quarter of 2024 amounted to 6.82 billion euros, an increase of 1.2% compared to the third quarter of 2023, which stood at 6.73 billion euros, and an increase of 3.8% compared to the second quarter of 2024, which stood at 6.57 billion euros.
