Unemployment fell to 9.6% in November
The unemployment rate in Greece fell significantly, both year-on-year and on a monthly basis, in November, with the number of people employed increasing by more than 140,000 compared to a year earlier.
The unemployment rate in Greece fell significantly, both year-on-year and on a monthly basis, in November, with the number of people employed increasing by more than 140,000 compared to a year earlier.
In particular, as Elstat announced:
- The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November 2024 stood at 9.6% compared to 10.8% in November 2023 and 9.8% in October 2024.
- Employed persons amounted to 4,286,466 persons, an increase of 146,066 persons compared to November 2023 (3.5%) and a decrease of 6,074 persons compared to October 2024 (-0.1%).
- Unemployed persons amounted to 454,695 persons, a decrease of 47,562 persons compared to November 2023 (-9.5%) and 11,914 persons compared to October 2024 (-2.6%).
- Persons under 75 years of age who are not included in the labor force, or "persons outside the labor force," i.e., persons neither working nor looking for work, totaled 3,026,005, a decrease of 120,944 persons compared to November 2023 (-3.8%) and an increase of 15,817 persons compared to October 2024 (0.5%).
