The bankruptcies of the country's businesses that were declared last year amounted to 23, compared to 53 in 2021, showing a decrease of 56.6%.
The average annual change rate for the period 2013-2022 shows a decrease of 27.9%. As for the legal form of the businesses that went bankrupt, from the analysis of the data for the period 2013-2022, a decrease in bankruptcies is observed with an average annual change rate of 32.5% for sole proprietorships, 22.6% for partnerships, and 28% for corporations.
According to ELSTAT, from the analysis of bankruptcies declared in 2022 by economic activity sector, it is observed that most bankruptcies occurred in the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector with a percentage of 56.5%.
This is followed by the construction sector with 13%, followed by the sectors of manufacturing, transportation and storage, as well as accommodation and food service activities with 8.7%, and finally the administrative and support service activities sector with 4.3%.
Furthermore, from the verified data of claims for the period 2013-2022, it is revealed that, on average annually, 762.2 million euros of liabilities were confirmed for 95 verifications, while the employees with claims on them amounted to 1,401 individuals.
Additionally, for the aforementioned period, there is a decrease in the average annual rate of change of the number of verifications by 19.5%, in the amount of confirmed liabilities by 4.3%, and in the number of employees with claims by 16.8%.
