The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October 2023 was 9.6%, compared to 11.8% in October 2022 and the upwardly revised 10.3% in September 2023.

According to ELSTAT data, the employed individuals amounted to 4,257,939 people, indicating an increase of 145,353 individuals compared to October 2022 (3.5%) and 55,348 individuals compared to September 2023 (1.3%).

The number of unemployed individuals was 453,783, showing a decrease of 98,636 individuals compared to October 2022 (-17.9%) and 28,316 individuals compared to September 2023 (-5.9%).

People under the age of 75 who are not part of the labor force, or "inactive individuals," meaning those who are neither employed nor actively seeking employment, numbered 3,080,603, marking a decrease of 75,123 individuals compared to October 2022 (-2.4%) and 22,797 individuals compared to September 2023 (-0.7%).
