According to data from ELSTAT, the number of unemployed individuals decreased to 514,622, representing a -3.5% quarterly change and a -7.4% annual change.

The unemployment rate in Greece was at 10.8% in the third quarter, slightly decreasing compared to the 11.2% in the immediately preceding quarter and more significantly compared to the same period in 2022 (11.6%). 
 
According to data from ELSTAT, the number of unemployed individuals decreased to 514,622, representing a -3.5% quarterly change and a -7.4% annual change.  

In detail, during the third quarter of 2023:

  • The number of employed individuals reached 4,256,176, showing an increase of 0.5% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 1.0% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

  • The number of unemployed individuals reached 514,622, indicating a decrease of 3.5% compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 7.4% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The unemployment rate in the third quarter of 2023 was 10.8%. The unemployment rate in the previous quarter (Q2 2023) was 11.2%, and in the same quarter of the previous year (Q3 2022), it was 11.6%.

  • People who are not included in the labor force, or "persons outside the labor force," meaning individuals who are neither employed nor seeking employment, amounted to 4,264,694. Specifically, individuals outside the labor force under the age of 75 numbered 3,032,538. Their percentage decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous quarter and by 0.9% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
