The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has given the green light for the signing of a €69.25 million supplementary contract with the contractor AVAX for the redesign of the road project from Bralos to Amfissa. Thus, the total budget is increased by 26.97% from the original contract of €256.87 million.

The decision was taken by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, based on the Climate Resilience Documentation Study of the project, which was prepared under the existing contract in order to be included in the Transport Programme 2021-2027.

WHAT THE NEW CONTRACT PROVIDES

Under the decision, the original study, which provided for a two-way tunnel, is modified, and in its place, two tunnels will be built, one for each direction of traffic, for road safety and resilience reasons. The twin tunnel will be 2 200 metres long and will be the largest technical project on the Bralos-Amfissa section. At the same time, this solution offers the possibility of carrying out works in one tunnel with traffic in the other, facilitates traffic in case of emergencies and prevents the possibility of head-on collisions.
