Cenergy Holdings announces that Hellenic Cables, its cables division, has been awarded a contract by Independent Electricity Transmission System Operator) for the design, supply and installation of 150 kV XLPE underground and submarine cables. This project will upgrade the Kefalonia-Zakynthos and Lefkada-Kefalonia electrical interconnections, enhancing energy reliability and providing long-term benefits for residents and visitors to the Ionian Islands.
THE PROJECT
The project includes the supply and installation of approximately 38 km of 150 kV submarine and overland cables and is scheduled for completion in 2026. The submarine cables will be produced at Hellenic Cables' state-of-the-art plant in Corinth, whose production capacities have recently been increased. The Corinth plant is internationally recognised for its advanced production and testing capabilities, enabling the manufacture of submarine cables in long continuous lengths. The onshore cables will be manufactured at the Hellenic Cables plant in Thebes, where investments are also being made to increase production capacity.
Kostas Savvakis, General Manager of Hellenic Cables, said: "This project highlights Hellenic Cables' commitment to support ADMIE's network development plans and strengthen the energy infrastructure in Greece. Our state-of-the-art submarines and underground cables will ensure reliable energy supply for the Ionian Islands while supporting ADMIE's ongoing investment in a reliable energy transmission network."
