The Governor of ADDE, George Pitsilis, has decided to postpone the following deadlines in order to help businesses meet the following obligations to remove or replace cash registers and mechanisms and interface ERP software with POS:
1. Mandatory withdrawal of EAFDSS and simple FEMs
- Any pending interconnection of the new cash register system selected with the POS(s) of the business is not a condition of replacement and does not justify non-replacement at the end of the above date.
- Similarly, simple PHMs used by food service establishments with table service are mandatorily retired by 7/31/2024.
- In particular, businesses that have interconnected their POS with their POS systems in accordance with Decision A. 1157/2023, par. 2.5, point d', are obliged to withdraw the POS systems they use by October 31, 2024.
- In particular, petrol station operators shall cease to use the NFCSs they have until December 31, 2024, and shall be obliged to interconnect the POS systems, with which they replace the NFCSs, with POS from January 1, 2025.
2. Mechanisms with which it is allowed to replace the POS or simple POS for businesses operating in the catering sector with table service
As of 1/8/2024, food service establishments with table service that currently use EAPDs or simple FEMs are required to choose one of the following cash register systems:
- Restaurant FEMS or
- Restaurant FTM, or
- a Restaurant FTS, a Restaurant FTS, or
- an electronic data provider
A decision by the Governor of the AASE, to be issued within the week, will provide for exemptions from the obligation to replace simple FEMs for businesses operating in the restaurant sector and located in non-tourist areas with a small population or where the restaurant activity of serving food at tables is only an ancillary activity.
3. Interfacing with POS of cash register systems and cooperating with ERP in accordance with A. 1155/2023.
Businesses using cash systems that cooperate with ERP are obliged to interface their ERP-operated cash systems with POS, in accordance with A. 1155/2023, by September 30, 2024.
